Search Engine Marketing (aka Pay per Click) has been getting more expensive, but if you buy the right keywords and measure and optimize, you can still do very well.  People that search for your term and click your link have intent, which has a lot of value.  

Search Engine Optimization (aka Organic Search) is often considered "free", but it does take work and expertise to get a high ranking and visibility.  However, this can be your best ROI and has fueled the growth in Content Marketing, as a way to reduce pay-per-click costs.
